MTHFR Polymorphism

MTHFR
MTHFR is an enzyme that converts inactive folate to biologically active form of folate called methylfolate.
MTHFR POLYMORPHISM
MTHFR polymorphism refers to genetic error that reduce the enzyme activity.
MTHFR polymorphism is associated with health conditions e.g. cardiovascular disease, psychiatric disorders and poor pregnancy outcomes.

MTHFR PREVALENCE
MTHFR genetic polymorphism affects
10% - 40% of world population.
UPM study found that prevalence of MTHFR polymorphism in Malaysia was 28% among
child bearing age women.
